Fostering and Adopting Pets
Naples has a significant problem with stray and abandoned animals. There are several reasons for this problem, including low rates of pet sterilization. As a result, there is a continuous stream of animals looking for forever homes. NALA attempts to facilitate this process in two ways: Animal Fostering, and Animal Adoption.
Animal Fostering
If you have a warm place in your heart and home for stray or abandoned animals, consider becoming a foster home. Foster animals stay with foster families while they recuperate from street life and adjust to life with a two-legged family. These animals are listed in NALA's "Available for Adoption" binder at Area Orientation, on the Adoption page of the NALA website, and on Facebook. Costs for continued care can in many cases be subsidized. It is a big job, but a rewarding one. Learn More.
Animal Adoption
If you are ready to take the plunge and adopt a furry family member here in Naples, congratulations. NALA is here to help with resources and support for successfully introducing your new pet to your family. Prior to adopting an animal, you will be required to complete an adoption application, which provides information on costs associated with pet ownership, and commits you to sterilizing the animal, as well as PCSing with the animal upon your departure. Potential adoptees are listed HERE. Learn More about Animal Adoption.
